Congratulations to Mahtomedi teacher Mr. Ryan Collins, who was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award!
Mr. Collins is now one of 31 semifinalists for the award. An independent selection panel of 21 community leaders chose the semifinalists from an initial field of 142 candidates from across the state. The panel will review the semifinalists’ portfolios again, along with semifinalist video submissions, in mid-March. In the next round, ten finalists will be selected.
The Minnesota Teacher of the Year program has recognized excellence in teaching in Minnesota for 61 years. Eligible candidates include pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers, ECFE, and ABE teachers from public or private schools.
Mr. Collins is the 2024-25 Mahtomedi Teacher of the Year. He is a social studies teacher at Mahtomedi Middle School (MMS) and has been teaching at MMS since 2001. In addition to teaching, he has served on the Stillwater City Council since 2019 and is the Vice President of the Washington County Historical Society Board of Directors.
