Congratulations to Mahtomedi Alum Wyatt Tarnowski (Mahtomedi High School Class of 2024), who was selected for the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) Art and Design Digital Exhibit.
Wyatt is one of 50 students among 80,000 student portfolios selected for the honor. His portfolio was completed during his senior year at Mahtomedi in his AP 3-D Art and Design class. In his portfolio, Wyatt explored using thrown pottery pieces with negative space and unique textures.
MHS Art teacher Jan Nelson, shared, “Wyatt came into his senior year determined to push his artistic skills to create his AP 3-D portfolio. His 'out of the box' thinking allowed him to explore a wide variety of techniques and styles. This exploration paid off with Wyatt receiving a perfect score on his AP-3D portfolio as well as being showcased at the White Bear Center of the Arts student art show.”
Wyatt is currently attending the University of Minnesota Duluth and working on his Master of Business Administration. He shared this about his experience at Mahtomedi, “My AP classes prepared me for the higher workload in college. Mr. Nelson had such a great impact on me, he was always willing to drop anything he was doing at a moment's notice to come help and lend ideas. Mr. Nelson was always in a great mood and full of joy 24/7, which was so inspiring to all his students.”
