This summer, Mahtomedi Community Education launched the Page Turners Challenge, bringing middle school students together to read and discuss four books. Students met each author, built their home libraries, and put their knowledge to the test in a final book battle.
The program helped students strengthen their reading skills, connect with peers, and grow in confidence. One student summed up the experience this way: "I realized I'm a lot more capable of doing harder things."
Page Turners is led by Advanced Academics Coordinator Kathryn Marget and Secondary Enrichment Coordinator Sammy Wallace, with generous support from the Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation and Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation. Wildwood Library staff, families, parent volunteers, and high school volunteers from National Honor Society and Interact Club also helped make the program possible.
