WELCOME TO THE MEDIA CENTER!

Media Center book fines may be paid with cash or a check made out to Mahtomedi Middle School.

Circulation Policy: Students may have three books checked out at a time and may keep each book for 10 school days. They may renew books and put books on hold. Students who have overdue materials will not be able to check out additional materials until the overdue materials are returned. Periodic reminders for overdue materials will be passed out to students.

Internet Safety: All district computers have an Internet filtering system. In addition, media staff work with teachers to guide students to websites that are age and content appropriate. Each student is made aware of the proper use of electronic resources and is asked to sign an Acceptable Use Policy.

Resources: Students have extensive access to a variety of media resources to support their learning activities. There are 10 Dell computers in the media center. Two of these stations are dedicated to the Destiny online catalog for student searching. In addition, there are three 30 station computer labs in rooms 228, 258 and 260 and in the 6th and 7th grade resource areas for information accessing and productivity.

The media center book collection includes over 10,000 items to support the curriculum and recreational reading interests.

Our online database subscriptions include World Book Online, CultureGrams, and Discovery Streaming. Through the Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM), a free service provided by the State of Minnesota, we also have access to a variety of current newspapers, periodicals, reference books, and other nonfiction resources to aid students in their research. Login information for these resources is available in the media center.
